Our Mountains
Mountain Resorts
Known for epic powder stashes, gladed skiing and proximity to town, Aspen Mountain is the “town mountain” because it runs right down into the heart of Aspen. Aspen Mountain consists of over 800 acres, 76 trails, 8 lifts, and tops out at a spectacular 11,212 feet (3,418 m) above sea level with stunning views of the Elk Mountains.
Wild but always welcoming, Aspen Highlands is the local’s favorite. It’s a place to push hard and play hard, whether guests are carving new lines on expert terrain, hiking the Bowl, or reaching new heights of revelry at Cloud Nine. Aspen Highlands is 1,040 acres with 144 trails, 5 lifts, and tops out at 12,392 feet (3,777 m).
Larger than our three other mountains combined, Snowmass would be one of the largest ski resorts in the world on its own. The slopes offer burly steeps, inviting glades, and endless bumps, jumps, and groomers. Guests are challenged to ski it all in a week—or a full season. Snowmass is 3,342 acres, 98 trails, and over 20 lifts and tops out at 12,510 feet above sea level.
Buttermilk is all-play, all-day. It’s the perfect playground for kids and kids at heart to learn the basics, master the terrain park, skin uphill, or watch the world’s best freestylers in the X Games. All are welcome, all winter long. Buttermilk is 470 acres with 44 trails and 8 lifts.
Restaurants and Hotels
Ask those who have skied Aspen Mountain what it is like, and you are likely to hear them talk about the dining at some point. The après ski at Ajax Tavern is world-famous for good reason. Up top, the Sundeck takes in one of Colorado’s very best mountaintop views, while Bonnie’s and Element 47 anchor opposite — yet unique Aspen — ends of the dining spectrum.
- Sundeck: Sit back on the deck and watch lines make their way down the Highland bowl while you enjoy the best burger on-mountain!
- Ajax tavern: Location: The Little Nell Hotel. The perfect outdoor terrace in the sun, a mix of who’s who, truffle fries, and a drinks menu to die for. Every day is a good day for après ski at Ajax Tavern.
- Bonnie’s: Get transported back in time when you walk into this mid-mountain ski lodge. Some call the 1960s eatery, “the soul of the mountain.” Stop in for some apple strudel and get a pulse on the local community vibe.
- Element 47: Our team of culinary and wine professionals, led by Executive Chef, Matt Zubrod, is one very good reason our hotel has enjoyed the rare 5-Star, 5-Diamond ranking for so long.
- The Wine Bar: Location: The Little Nell Hotel. The Little Nell’s former après-ski bar, Chair 9, has transformed into a vibrant wine bar, offering intimate seating areas and an extensive list of wines by the glass, plus a full bar menu. Overseen by Wine Director Chris Dunaway and his team of sommeliers, The Wine Bar is open daily from 3-10pm with reservations for parties up to 8 people in private booths and couches.
Limelight Aspen pays homage to the destination’s dynamic past and vibrant present, offering spacious rooms and suites combining a modern aesthetic and laidback luxe. Steps away from Aspen Mountain and the Silver Queen Gondola, the hotel is ideally situated in the heart of downtown Aspen, providing effortless access to world-class mountain activities year-round.
