Keystone,CO Aspen/Snowmass has been putting up big numbers on the board for snowfall this week. The recent storm cycle hit Aspen hard with upwards of 16 inches of fresh powder. Best news of all, it’s still snowing! Base depths are way above average, and are totaling 1-2 feet over last year’s numbers at this time.
The winter storm is getting a warm welcome from the mountain community. Just in time for the Aspen/Snowmass Open, the snow will usher in one of the hottest competitions in the area. With $50,000 big ones up for grabs, competitors will throw down their best moves on the famous Winter X Games course at Buttermilk Mountain. This year marks the 6th anniversary of the Open and is expected to draw 350 men and women skiers and riders to the area to compete. The Open will feature two focus areas for competitors, Slopestyle and Superpipe for maximum excitement.
